Leh Apex Body voices concern over Sonam Wangchuk’s worsening health

New Delhi: The Leh Apex Body (LAB) has expressed serious concern over the deteriorating health and safety of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, who was shifted from Dehli’s Jantar Mantar to a hospital after remaining on a hunger strike for 20 days.

According to Kashmir Media Service, LAB Convener Gelek Phunchok said the organisation was deeply concerned over Wangchuk’s health and claimed his transfer to the hospital against his wishes had increased anxiety among the people of Ladakh. He urged the Indian government to resolve the issue through dialogue and democratic engagement.

The LAB also called on New Delhi to honour its commitments regarding Ladakh and continue constructive engagement with stakeholders, while Dr Ishey Namgyal, General Secretary of the Ladakh Buddhist Association, said people across Ladakh were worried about Wangchuk’s condition and hoped the authorities would ensure his safety.
