APHC delegation meets Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister, discusses Kashmir issue

Gilgit: A high-level delegation of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir chapter, led by Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi, met Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Syed Amjad Hussain in Gilgit.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the delegation included APHC-AJK General Secretary Advocate Parvez Ahmad, Syed Ejaz Rehmani, Raja Khadim Hussain, Zahid Safi, Sheikh Abdul Majeed, Zahid Ashraf and other leaders.
During the meeting, the participants held detailed discussions on the latest situation inoccupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination, relevant UN resolutions, the significance of July 19 (Accession to Pakistan Day), and the constitutional and political status of Gilgit-Baltistan.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Syed Amjad Hussain said the State of Jammu and Kashmir is a historical and geographical entity, reaffirming his government’s commitment to its unity. He said the resolution presented in the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly regarding provisional accession to Pakistan should not create any ambiguity, as it represents a constitutional and political position and does not affect the disputed status of Jammu and Kashmir or the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.
He further said that Gilgit-Baltistan’s provisional accession to Pakistan would not undermine the right to self-determination. He reiterated that the people of Gilgit-Baltistan firmly believe in a UN-sponsored plebiscite and support the legitimate right to self-determination of all the people of the State of Jammu and Kashmir.
APHC Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi appreciated the Chief Minister’s clear stance, saying that, in accordance with the UN Security Council resolutions, the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan have an equal right to determine their political future through a free and impartial plebiscite. He said the Kashmiri people have rendered unparalleled sacrifices for decades to secure this fundamental right and urged the international community to fulfill its responsibilities.
The meeting also discussed the central rally being held in Gilgit in connection with July 19, today.
Accession to Pakistan Day. Chief Minister Syed Amjad Hussain highlighted the importance of the event, expressed his best wishes for its success and assured the delegation of his participation in the rally.
The meeting concluded in a cordial atmosphere with both sides reaffirming their resolve to continue joint efforts to project the Kashmir dispute more effectively at the national and international levels, safeguard the unity of the State of Jammu and Kashmir and support the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.
