Wangchuk should not be treated without my consent, says his wife
New Delhi: Gitanjali Angmo, wife of Sonam Wangchuk, a well-known environmental activist from Ladakh, Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, who was forcibly picked up by the police during a hunger strike at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi yesterday and taken to the hospital, has said that her husband is fine, but despite repeated requests, the hospital is refusing to share a copy of his medical reports.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Gitanjali Angmo in a statement in New Delhi said she has told the hospital administration that Wangchuk should not be treated without his consent and that he should be discharged. She asked why there are police outside the hospital, why is he not being allowed to take his phone inside the hospital.
Gitanjali Angmo said that the doctors have reported that Wangchuk’s potassium level, which was 4.3 a day ago, has come down to 2.9 today, but a copy of the medical report is not being given.
She said that if this is just a medical issue, then why have so many forces been deployed, it seems that this is not hospital but jail.
Wangchuk’s wife further said that forcibly removing her husband from Jantar Mantar will not have any effect on the protest. She said the youth are continuing the movement, there will be a march towards Parliament tomorrow (Monday) and if Sonam cannot attend it, she will represent them and lead the march.
