4 workers killed in cylinder blast at factory in Assam

Silchar: At least four workers were killed in a suspected cylinder explosion at an iron casting factory in BJP-ruled Assam state.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the blast occurred in a shared compound of Kade Global Infrastructure LLP and IRID Casting Works LLP in Pangram, under Udharbond police station limits in Cachar district, a senior police officer said.

“A sudden explosion shattered the factory and several people suffered injuries. They were taken to Silchar Medical College and Hospital, where four people were declared dead,” he said.

Industrial and workplace accidents are rampant across India due to poor safety standards, lax enforcement of labour laws and cost-cutting by factory owners, with workers often bearing the brunt of such negligence.

Meanwhile, two people — a bus conductor and a government schoolteacher — were killed and 10 others injured when a speeding private bus collided with a truck on the Sanchore-Deesa Highway near the Paladar border area in Jalore district of Rajasthan.
