Authorities violate terms that ended 37-day NEET agitation: CJP
New Delhi: Ashutosh Ranka, spokesperson of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), has said that authorities violated an agreement not to take police action against student protesters.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Ashutosh Ranka in a post on X said that hundreds of students had been arrested in Bihar and West Bengal, while protesters and volunteers providing logistical support in New Delhi and other states were being surveilled, harassed or detained.
He demanded the immediate withdrawal of all FIRs filed against protesters, the release of detained students, and a halt to any future police cases.
He also called upon the government to share a written agreement on legal cases by the following day, warning that the party would resume protests if its demands were not met.
Meanwhile, the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) leaders in a press conference in New Delhi , announced the launch of ‘Sakshi’, an online platform where people can submit evidence of alleged police brutality during the protest, volunteer legal assistance, and contribute through donations.
They said they are awaiting the government’s written confirmation of the assurances discussed during their meeting on July 25, including the withdrawal of FIRs, protection for protesters and organizers from future legal action, and the release of those detained in connection with the movement.
The organization warned that if the written agreement is not received and detained protesters are not released, it may resume its protest. There was no announcement regarding the final compensation amount for families of students who died by suicide in connection with the NEET paper leak issue.
