India cannot change internationally recognized legal facts through aggressive statements: Khawaja Asif
Islamabad: Federal Defence Minister of Pakistan Khawaja Asif has categorically rejected the recent irresponsible statement of the Indian Defence Minister, saying that Jammu and Kashmir is an internationally recognized disputed territory, India cannot distort facts.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Khawaja Asif in a statement issued on the social networking website X, said India cannot change internationally recognized legal facts through aggressive statements and political pressure.
He said the statements of the Indian Defence Minister are another attempt to distort internationally recognized legal facts through political narrative and pressure. Such statements, he said, can neither change the status of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir nor help in promoting peace, stability and meaningful dialogue in the region.
The Defence Minister said Jammu and Kashmir is an internationally recognized disputed territory, the final decision of which depends on the relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council and the free opinion of the Kashmiri people.
Khawaja Asif said India’s repeated allegations against Pakistan have no credibility in the presence of its own documented record of state-sponsored terrorism and other criminal activities. In fact, he said India is the largest sponsor of terrorism and destabilization in South Asia, which is holding the entire region hostage through its expansionist ambitions.
He added that India’s irresponsible rhetoric can lead to an increase in the risks of conflict between the two states in the region. Pakistan, he said, believes in peace and dialogue, however, its commitment to protecting its sovereignty, territorial integrity and national security is unwavering and should never be tested.
According to the Defence Minister, the recent rhetoric of the Indian leadership is actually an attempt to divert public attention from the country’s internal political crisis, growing unrest, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s authoritarian and divisive style of governance.
