BJP accused of engineered chaos in Punjab ahead of 2027 polls
Amritsar: The BJP-led Indian government is deliberately manufacturing insecurity in Punjab to crush dissent and expand central control ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections, rights observers said.
According to Kashmir Media Service, twin low-intensity blasts took place on May 5-6, 2026 — one near BSF headquarters in Jalandhar and another near the Army cantonment boundary wall in Khasa, Amritsar. No casualties were reported.
In the aftermath, thousands of Indian forces including BSF, ITBP and RAF personnel were deployed across the state, turning border areas into a heavily militarized zone under the pretext of “security.” Similar deployments of over 4,000 Punjab police and multiple paramilitary companies are routinely seen around sensitive anniversaries.
Observers said hundreds of Sikhs and political dissidents face arbitrary arrests under draconian laws and are branded “Khalistani” or “terror sympathizers” to silence demands for justice and autonomy.
Police raids, UAPA cases and encounters are increasingly targeting youth and critics of the majoritarian regime.
Analysts said BJP leaders are exploiting public anxiety to attack the AAP government and push for direct federal oversight, polarizing communities and undermining Punjab’s communal harmony.
“This isn’t counter-terror. It is engineered tyranny using blasts, mass surveillance and force deployments to break the spirit of Sikhs and consolidate Hindutva dominance,” observers said.
