Haryana accounts for 58% of India’s sex determination cases in 3 years
Chandigarh : Haryana has recorded 58% of all “communication of sex of foetus” cases in India between 2023 and 2025, with 106 of the 184 cases registered India-wide during the period, the Modi regime told Rajya Sabha.
According to Kashmir Media Service, data shared by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in response to a question by TMC MP Derek O’Brien showed Haryana had the highest number of cases, followed by Gujarat with 28 and Rajasthan with 11.
In 2025 alone, Haryana registered 64 of the 83 sex determination cases across the country. The state government said it conducted 84 raids between January 2024 and March 2026, including 37 in Uttar Pradesh.
Recent operations include the arrest of a middleman at Dabwali in Sirsa on July 16 and a doctor caught performing a sex determination test at Indri in Karnal on July 5. In May, seven people were arrested from Amroha in UP for conducting tests on pregnant women from Rohtak.
As per data, Haryana reported 19 cases of female foeticide from 2022 to 2024, the fourth-highest in India. The sex ratio at birth in Haryana was 891 females per 1,000 males in 2024, the fourth-lowest nationally.
