IIOJK power employees threaten strike from Aug 13 against salary cuts

Jammu : Power employees and engineers in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir have threatened to go on an indefinite strike from August 13 against the suspension of staff and withholding of salaries by the authorities.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Power Employees and Engineers Coordination Committee convener Sachin Tickoo announced the strike call at a press conference in Jammu and gave a 48-hour ultimatum to the authorities to revoke the suspension orders.
Tickoo said engineers and other employees were suspended without inquiry and an opportunity to present their case. He said that while stringent action including disconnection was taken against habitual power thieves and FIRs were sent to police, no action had been taken against offenders since 2024, and instead action was being taken against employees.
He said that salaries were being withheld for “failure” to make the Surya Ghar scheme a success in Dharmari, Reasi, Pouni, Rajouri, Poonch, Kotranka, Ramban and Banihal. He further said that 25,000 smart meters were damaged but no action was taken against the concerned agencies.
“All power employees will go on strike from August 13 if the suspension orders are not revoked within 48 hours,” Tickoo said.
