IIOJK people urged to observe Indian Independence Day as Black Day

Srinagar: The Hurriyat parties and leaders have urged the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir to observe Indian Independence Day (August 15) as Black Day.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the parties and leaders in their separate statements issued in Srinagar urged the people of Kashmir to observe India’s Independence Day as Black Day as a mark of protest against India’s forcible occupation of Kashmir.

Terming India as usurper, they said, the country that has deprived Kashmiris of their fundamental rights and snatched their freedom by occupying their motherland has no justification to celebrate Independence Day.

The statements said India has occupied Kashmir against the will of the Kashmiri people and it has no right to celebrate its Independence day in occupied Kashmir. They said like in the past, the people of the occupied territory will observe India’s Independence Day as Black Day tomorrow.

They unequivocally asserted that India’s celebration of its Independence Day in IIOJK is both inappropriate and unjust. They said the use of brute force to bring students, teachers and employees to government functions is a joke and will not befool the world.

They urged India to resolve the Kashmir dispute as per United Nations resolutions which will bring peace and economic stability in the region.
