Anti-India protest rally held in Muzaffarabad
Muzaffarabad : An anti-India protest rally was held in Muzaffarabad, the capital of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, to observe India’s Independence Day as Black Day, today.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the protest was organized by All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) and was led by its Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi.
Addressing the rally, the speakers said the right to self-determination is the basic right of Kashmiris and the struggle will continue till complete freedom from India. The speakers said that if the United Nations and world powers did not play its role, the Indian Army would have to leave the disputed region in disgrace.
They urged the United Nations to play its role in the peaceful resolution of the lingering Kashmir dispute so that permanent peace could be established in the entire South Asian region.
The speakers said India has snatched the freedom of the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir by the dint of military power. They said India has no right to celebrate its Independence Day in the occupied territory as it has the status of a usurper in Jammu and Kashmir.
The speakers said Kashmiris’ lives and property are under serious threat in the region. They said humanity is being suppressed in India every day but the international community and civilized nations remain a silent spectator. They urged the United Nations to give up its double standard and fulfill its promise to give the Kashmiri people their right to self-determination.
The participants of the rally raised high-pitched slogans in favour of Pakistan and against India.
The participants, including APHC-AJK General Secretary Advocate Parvez Ahmed, Kashmir Liberation Cell Director Raja Sajad, Secretary Education Chaudhry Abdul Rehman, Ghulam Hassan Butt, Uzair Ahmad Ghazali, Showkat Kashmiri, Shagufta Bukhari, Sheikh Jameel-ur-Rehman, Showkat Javajd Mir, Raja Khadim Hussain, Sheikh Abdul Majid, Muhammad Ashraf Dar, Zahid Ashraf, Mushtaq-ul-Islam and Abdul Majeed Mir, marched from press club to Alamdar Chowk in Muzaffarabad, chanting anti-India and pro-freedom slogans.
APHC-AJK also presented a memorandum to the United Nations office in Muzaffarabad, urging it to fulfill its responsibilities and help resolve the Kashmir dispute in accordance with its own resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
