Irresponsible statements regarding disputed Kashmir not acceptable: Sherry Rehman
Islamabad: Senior leader of Pakistan Peoples Party Senator Sherry Rehman has said that irresponsible statements regarding the disputed Kashmir are not acceptable, as it is an internationally recognized dispute.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Sherry Rehman in response to the US Ambassador’s statement on India’s illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, said that the future of Kashmir should be decided according to the will of the Kashmiri people. No matter how much India tries to change the disputed status of occupied Kashmir, it cannot change the facts, she added.
She said Pakistan’s position on Kashmir is based on UN resolutions and the right to self-determination. She said the US Ambassador’s declaration of Kashmir as part of India is not in line with Washington’s previous position.
She said that Pakistan welcomed the US President’s statement on Kashmir after the Marka-e-Haq, and the path to peace between Pakistan and India can only come from a just solution to the Kashmir dispute.
Sherry Rehman said it is not right to present India’s unilateral stance on Kashmir as a globally recognized fact. The US leadership’s offer to play a role in resolving the Kashmir dispute between Pakistan and India should be taken seriously, she maintained.
