Rehmani hails Syed Ali Gilani’s life long struggle for freedom
Islamabad: Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, former Convener of All Parties Hurriyat Conference- AJK chapter, has paid rich tributes to the life and political struggle of Kashmir’s legendary leader, Syed Ali Gilani, on his 5th martyrdom anniversary.
According to Kashmir Media Service, in a statement, Rehmani said Syed Ali Gilani was put under house arrest in 2010 and kept in illegal detention, denying him fresh air and medical facilities to treat his serious ailments during the last years of his life.
“His last decade as an ailing leader under detention is a testimony to how India shows its hateful and prejudicial treatment towards the people, and in particular towards popular political leaders of Jammu and Kashmir, while still calling itself the saviour of Kashmiris,” he said.
Muhammad Farooq Rehmani stated that Syed Ali Gilani passed away in the shackles of detention but never compromised on his cherished ideals of freedom and the right to self-determination until he attained martyrdom, which further exposed India’s myopic outlook on the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.
He said Syed Gilani not only waged a peaceful political struggle but also raised his voice against the collapse of the human rights edifice from Kashmir to Palestine.
Calling upon the international community, Rehmani urged global human rights voices to translate their principles into action in favor of the subjugated people of Kashmir and their right to self-determination at a critical juncture when the UN itself faces onslaught by selfish powers.
He also appealed to the Muslim world, as well as African, Latin American and East European nations, to come forward united, without fear or favor, for the suppressed and brutalized people and nations of the world.
