APHC demands international probe into cases against Yasin Malik

Srinagar: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has strongly condemned the Indian state and its judiciary for the manner in which they are proceeding against illegally jailed Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik, and has called for an international investigation into the cases registered against him.

According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas in a statement issued in Srinagar said Yasin Malik, who has been incarcerated in Tihar Jail since 2019, has been made to face fresh prosecution 36 years after the alleged incident, which exposes the political motives behind the case.

He said that Yasin Malik was arrested in 1990 and faced nearly two dozen cases, yet no murder charge was registered against him at the time. His being named an accused 36 years later raises serious questions about the timing, credibility, and purpose of the prosecution.

He said that Yasin Malik’s affidavit brought the human cost of the Kashmir dispute into sharp focus and urged Kashmiris to rise above political rivalries, preserve unity, and stand together for justice, dignity, and a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute.

APHC-AJK slams politicization of Indian judiciary in Yasin Malik case

He said Yasin Malik’s affidavit, addressed to his mother, wife Mushaal and daughter Razia Sultan, reflects on the heavy personal toll of his prolonged and illegal imprisonment in India’s Tihar Jail.

The spokesman said that Yasin Malik’s message to his mother reflects years of separation, pain and legal injustice, as he prays for her peace, strength and dignity.

He said that the jailed JKLF Chairman’s heartbreaking message to his wife, Mushaal, lays bare the pain caused by years of separation, as he has been denied regular communication and visits with her in the Indian jail.

He said that for eight years he has neither heard Mushaal’s voice nor spoken to her by phone or video call. He has also not heard the voice of his 13-year-old daughter, Razia, which has added to his pain and isolation.

Abdul Rashid Minhas said that, regardless of political differences, the words and pain of incarcerated Yasin Malik deserve to be heard with seriousness and humanity. He said that it iwas primarily the responsibility of the international community, particularly the United Nations, to monitor the grave human-rights situation of Kashmiri political leadership languishing in Indian jails for prolonged periods in what are described as politically motivated and fabricated cases.
