APHC-AJK, Jamaat-e-Islami resolve to continue joint struggle for Kashmir cause
Islamabad: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter and Jamaat-e-Islami Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan have resolved to continue their joint struggle for the Kashmir freedom movement.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Jamaat-e-Islami Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan Ameer Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, along with a delegation, visited the APHC-AJK chapter office in Islamabad and met the Hurriyat leadership led by Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi.
During the meeting, the participants held detailed discussions on the latest situation in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), Indian state repression, human rights violations and the challenges facing the Kashmir freedom movement.
The Hurriyat leadership appreciated Jamaat-e-Islami’s political, diplomatic and moral support for the Kashmiri people and stressed the need to intensify joint efforts to highlight the Kashmir freedom movement.
Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Khan said Jamaat-e-Islami stood shoulder to shoulder with the Kashmiri people in their struggle for freedom from Indian occupation and would continue its political and diplomatic efforts for a just and lasting settlement of the Kashmir dispute. He said unity and solidarity among political and religious forces on the Kashmir issue was the need of the hour.
Ghulam Muhammad Safi said Jamaat-e-Islami had consistently supported the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination and played an important role in highlighting the Kashmir cause at political, public and diplomatic levels.
He said all political and religious forces would have to unite and fulfil their responsibilities to make the Kashmir freedom movement more effective. He added that the Hurriyat Conference would further strengthen its contacts and cooperation with Jamaat-e-Islami and all like-minded forces.
He also urged the international community, particularly the United Nations, to play its role in securing a just and lasting settlement of the Kashmir dispute.
The participants agreed to further strengthen mutual contacts, consultation and cooperation on the Kashmir cause and intensify joint efforts to highlight the Kashmir freedom movement at national and international levels.
At the conclusion of the meeting, special prayers were offered for the success of the Kashmir freedom movement, elevation of the ranks of the martyrs of Kashmir and liberation of occupied Jammu and Kashmir from Indian occupation.
Hurriyat leaders Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, Mahmood Ahmad Saghar, Syed Yousuf Naseem and Jahangir Ahmad Khan said Kashmir was a longstanding national, political and humanitarian issue and that a joint and consensus-based strategy was urgently needed for its just resolution.
Those present at the meeting included Syed Faiz Naqshbandi, Sheikh Muhammad Yaqub, Engineer Mushtaq Mahmood, Nisar Mirza, Syed Ejaz Rehmani, Zahid Safi, Haji Sultan Butt, Raja Khadim Hussain, Syed Mushtaq, Mushtaq Ahmad Butt, Adeel Mushtaq Wani, Nazir Ahmad Karnai, Daud Khan Yousafzai, Abdul Majeed, Mian Muzaffar, Gulshan Ahmad, Sheikh Abdul Majid, Manzoor Ahmad Dar, Muhammad Shafi Dar, Abdul Majeed Mir, Jameel Ahmad Rathore, Qazi Shahid Hameed Advocate and Imtiaz Wani.
