Indian forces arrest three youth during unabated CASOs in Rajouri
Srinagar: Indian forces, in their fresh act of state terrorism, have arrested three youth in Rajouri district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
The forces personnel, during cordon-and-search operations and house raids, arrested Zakir Hussain, Mohammad Azam and Mushtaq in different areas of the district.
The troops, justifying the detention of the youth, have claimed that the trio allegedly provided logistical assistance, safe passage and other ground-level support to militants. Indian officials claimed that they were arrested for their alleged involvement in an Over Ground Worker (OGW) network linked to supporting militants.
Critics, local political leaders and international human rights organizations frequently express concern over the detention of Kashmiri youth on pseudo pretexts. They argue that frequent arrests, often carried out under preventive detention laws such as the Public Safety Act (PSA) or the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), are used to suppress political dissent, stifle demands for self-determination (Azaadi) and intimidate the local population.
Reports also highlight grievances regarding the lack of immediate legal recourse and the impact of these detentions on families and communities.
On the other hand, two bodies were recovered from the Dhangri Lower area of Rajouri and the Salal Dam area of Reasi districts.
An official said that some locals spotted the bodies lying in the areas and subsequently informed the police.
Meanwhile, four people were injured after a Scorpio vehicle met with an accident in the Mendhar area of Poonch district. The accident occurred at Uchhad near the Indian 182 Battalion camp when the vehicle was travelling from Poonch towards Mendhar. The injured were identified as driver Gurvinder Singh, Kulvinder Singh, Pinder Kour and Harmit Kour, all residents of Dara Dullian in Poonch. The injured were shifted to the battalion hospital for treatment.
