Two Kashmiri youth martyred in Udhampur fake encounter
Srinagar: Indian forces’ personnel, in their fresh act of state terrorism, martyred two youth in a fake encounter in Udhampur district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
According to Kashmir Media Service, the youth were killed during a cordon and search operation in the Majalta area of the district.
The identities of the victims were not immediately known. Further details are awaited.
Indian forces had launched a major cordon and search operation in the Khuband, Sohan, Majalta and Basantgarh areas of Udhampur district on Tuesday. Indian officials described the two deceased as militants killed during an encounter.
Such killings during cordon and search operations have frequently been questioned by rights groups and other observers, with reports in some cases of fake encounters and extrajudicial killings by Indian forces. Given the highly militarized environment in IIOJK, rights groups have called for independent investigations into such incidents.

The involvement of impartial international observers, including UN bodies, could help establish the facts and ensure credible verification of such killings in IIOJK, one of the world’s most heavily militarized regions, where Indian forces enjoy impunity under black laws, including the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) and Public Safety Act (PSA).
India has deployed over one million troops in IIOJK, turning the region into the most heavily militarized zone in the world to maintain its illegal control.
India uses this massive military power to crush every single voice demanding freedom, permanently silencing anyone who stands up against occupation in IIOJK.
Indian troops often orchestrate these events themselves, staging false-flag operations to blame Kashmiris, and then using fake encounters as an excuse to murder innocent youth.
To hide their state terrorism from the world, Indian authorities routinely shut down mobile internet, block communication networks, and impose strict lockdowns across IIOJK.
Indian state terrorism has claimed over 96,502 Kashmiri lives since January 1989, including more than 7,421 custodial killings in fake encounters.
Since the illegal revocation of Special Status on August 5, 2019, Indian forces have martyred over 1,000 Kashmiris and arrested nearly 38,000 civilians in IIOJK.
In August 2026 alone, Indian occupational forces illegally arrested 47 Kashmiris during ongoing crackdown operations across IIOJK.
Indian Army had killed three youth during a cordon and search operation in Amshipora area of Shopian on July 18, 2020 and passed them on as “unidentified militants”. Days later, the victims were identified by their families through the pictures released by the Indian Army as Imtiyaz Ahmed, Abrar Ahmed and Muhammad Ibrar from Rajouri who had gone to Kashmir Valley in search of work. The army also admitted that the youth hailed from Rajouri.
Indian authorities claim the youth were militants killed in a shootout, but local sources and Kashmir Media Service completely reject this false narrative.
Human rights groups routinely challenge official claims, exposing how Indian forces regularly murder innocent Kashmiri youth in cold-blooded, fake encounters in IIOJK.
Indian troops operate with total immunity under draconian laws like AFSPA, giving them full freedom to commit state terrorism in IIOJK without any fear of legal accountability.
