IIOJK Congress protests against India’s CEC, demands his arrest

Srinagar : The Congress chapter in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) staged a protest against India’s Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar over the controversy surrounding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and demanded his arrest.
According to Kashmir Media Service, several Congress leaders and workers gathered at the party headquarters on MA Road in Srinagar. They attempted to march towards the main road, but police stopped them and did not allow them to leave the party office premises.
The protesters carried placards bearing slogans such as “Gyanesh Kumar, the election thief of India” and “Goodbye to free and fair elections in India.” They also chanted slogans against Kumar and the BJP-led Indian government.
Speaking to media persons on the occasion, Congress IIOJK Srinagar district president Adil Farooq said that every institution in India was under attack and being destroyed. He said the Congress party would ensure that all those involved in “treason, attacks on democracy and betrayal of the country” were brought to justice.
Adil Farooq further said that Gyanesh Kumar should either testify that he had initiated the SIR process at the behest of the BJP-led government or be prepared to go to jail.
