Social media influencer shot dead in Amritsar, Punjab

Amritsar: A social media influencer and makeup artist, Mad Sandhu, was shot dead by two unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants in Amritsar, Punjab, on Saturday evening.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the incident occurred at Loharka Road at around 6 pm, police said. Two unidentified persons on a motorcycle opened fire at Mad Sandhu, whose real name is Madhusudan, and fled the spot, a senior police officer said.
Sandhu was rushed to a hospital where he succumbed to injuries, police said, adding they have some leads and will catch the accused soon. The motive of the attack was yet to be ascertained.
Mad Sandhu was a well-known social media influencer, makeup artist and fashion stylist who used to speak about make-up artistry and gender-related issues. He had acted in Punjabi movie ‘Oye Bhole Oye’ and had a significant following. He had faced public criticism and backlash on social media over his content style and fashion choices.
While police have not yet established the motive, the attack appears to be either a case of targeted hate crime. However, a clear picture will only emerge after police investigation and arrest of the assailants.
