BJP regime’s normalcy claims in IIOJK blatant lies to mislead world: APHC

Srinagar : The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has said that the Indian BJP government is peddling blatant lies about peace and normalcy to mislead the world about the grim ground situation in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas in a statement issued in Srinagar said the off-and-on claims of the Indian BJP government and its military establishment about an improving security scenario in the occupied territory are just cruel jokes.
He said the Indian government and its regime’s claims of return of normalcy in IIOJK stand exposed by everyday killings, violent cordon and search operations, house raids and arbitrary arrests under draconian laws.
The APHC said thousands of Kashmiris, including APHC Chairman Masarrat Aalam Butt, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Syeda Aasiya Andrabi, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Ayaz Akbar, Peer Saifullah, Merajuddin Kalwal, Shahid-ul-Islam, Farooq Ahmed Dar, Naheeda Nasreen, Fehmeeda Sofi, Molvi Bashir Ahmed Irfani, Bilal Ahmed Siddiqi, Mushtaq-ul-Islam, Advocate Mian Abdul Qayoom, Muhammad Asadullah Parrey, Farooq Ahmed Tawheedi, Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori, Fayaz Ahmed Rizvi, Muhammad Yaseen Butt, Muhammad Saleem Nannaji, Muhammad Ahsan Untoo, Umar Adil Dar, Aadil Siraj Zagar, Dawood Fayaz Zargar and others are languishing in jails on fictitious charges.
He said the detainees are neither being produced in courts nor are any legal proceedings initiated in the false cases registered against them. “Their arbitrary detention is just being prolonged. Many among the prisoners are those who have been kept in jails even after serving their sentences,” he added.
The APHC pointed out that the Modi regime is attempting to distort truth and twist facts to promote its false narrative on occupied Kashmir. Illegal detentions and slapping of draconian laws even on human rights activists debunk the Indian BJP regime’s claims, the statement said.
Peace will continue to elude occupied Kashmir till Kashmiris are given their inalienable right to self-determination, the spokesman said. He said India needs to learn from history that genuine freedom movements with a massive support base cannot be suppressed through use of excessive force or by putting people in jails. The age-old colonial-era tactics used by Indian rulers to silence the Kashmiri people have neither succeeded in the past nor will they succeed in the future. India must accept the ground reality that Kashmir is a political dispute that needs to be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy, the statement added.
The APHC deplored that Indian occupation has turned Jammu and Kashmir into the world’s most militarized zone and snatched every right, including identity and the right to life, of the Kashmiris. The spokesman said Narendra Modi must allow UN observers and world human rights bodies to visit IIOJK to assess the ground situation.
Kashmiri people must be granted an opportunity to decide their future by themselves, adding that peace and stability will remain a distant dream in South Asia without the resolution of the Kashmir dispute.
