According to Kashmir Media Service, the conference was being organized by the United Peace Alliance, an association of several socio-political organizations, in connection with the interfaith harmony week observed by the United Nations’ from 1st to the 7th February every year.
Apart from the prominent scholars of different faiths, the interfaith conference was to be attended by a large number of socio-political activists. Yesterday, a day before the conference police called organizers of the conference, ID Khajuria, Mir Shahid Saleem Narender Singh Khalsa and Sunny Kant Chib to the local police stations and asked them to call off the event as there were strict instructions from the higher ups not to allow the proposed conference.
