Four civilians killed, over 250 people injured, curfew imposed in Uttarakhand

Haldwani: At least four Muslims were killed and over 260 people were injured by Indian forces’ brute force on protesters, who were demonstrating against the demolition of a madrasa in Uttarakhand state in India.

According to Kashmir Media Service, most of the over 250 people, who were hospitalized, were injured by Indian police forces in Haldwani, Banbhoolpura area, where Indian police personnel and municipal workers were involved in the demolition of a local madrasa.

The authorities imposed curfew and suspended internet services in the Banbhoolpura district.

A large number of local people gathered to resist the demolition.

As a bulldozer razed the madrasa, mobs took protest and Indian policemen used brute force on protesters and imposed curfew in the entire Halwani city.

The situation became tense in Uttarakhand’s Haldwani city on Thursday over the demolition of the madrasa and the Authorities have issued shoot-at-sight orders to control the situation.
