#AfzalGuruMartyrdomAnniversary

Srinagar: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference leaders have paid glowing tributes to the noted son of Kashmiri soil, Muhammad Afzal Guru, on his 11th martyrdom anniversary, today, saying that the martyrs are the real heroes of Kashmiris in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir,.

According to Kashmir Media Service, India had hanged Muhammad Afzal Guru in New Delhi’s Tihar Jail on this day in 2013 and sent prominent liberation leader, Muhammad Maqbool Butt, to the gallows in the same jail on February 11, 1984. Their bodies were buried in the premises of the jail.

Illegally detained APHC leader, Nayeem Ahmad Khan in a message from New Delhi’s Tihar Jail, highlighting the sacrifices of Muhammad Afzal Guru and Muhammad Maqbool Butt, said: “The entire Kashmiri nation is proud of the great sons of the soil who preferred to kiss the gallows rather than compromising their ideals.”

Nayeem Khan said, “Over the past 75 years Kashmiris have been facing the wrath of prejudice and political vengeance at the hands of occupation authorities,” he said, adding the shameful execution of Afzal Guru and Maqbool Butt was a big blot on the face of India’s falling justice system. Nayeem Khan reiterated the Kashmiris’ pledge to carry forward the mission of their martyrs despite all odds.

Jailed APHC leader, Molvi Bashir Ahmad, Bilal Siddiqi, Abdul Ahad Parra in their messages from jails denounced the partisan approach adopted by the Indian judiciary and the denial of a fair trial to Afzal Guru, terming it as a grave violation of law and justice.

APHC leaders, Syed Bashir Andrabi, Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori, Farida Bahenji, Ms Hafza, Yasin Attai, Javaid Ahmed Mir, Fayaz Hussain Jafari, Syed Sibte Shabbir Qummi, Khawaja Firdous, Hakeem Abdul Rasheed, Advocate Muzamil, Shabbir Ahmed, Ghulam Nabi War, Muhammad Aaqib, Hafiz Rafique Ahmed, Abdul Samad Inqilabi and Muhammad Umar in their separate statements issued in Srinagar, paying homage to Mohammad Afzal Guru and Mohammad Maqbool Butt, said that the Kashmiri people would take the mission of their martyrs to its logical conclusion, at all costs.

They said the Kashmir dispute is a reality and it should be resolved only in accordance with the UN resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
