Islamabad: The BJP regime in India’s illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir is behaving cruelly towards Kashmiri political prisoners, victimizing them for voicing their birthright to self-determination.
The Hindutva BJP regime is shifting Kashmiri detainees to far-off Indian jails to undermine their commitment to the Kashmir cause, states a report released by Kashmir Media Service, today.
The report highlights the transfer of over a thousand political detainees, including Dr. Qasim Fakhtoo, from IIOJK prisons to different Indian jails such as those in Haryana, Punjab, Tihar Jail Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh. “International laws prohibit Indian authorities from shifting detainees to jails far from their residences and families. Even the Indian Supreme Court ruling mandates that detainees must be lodged in jails nearest to their homes. Shifting Kashmiri prisoners to jails in India is proof of the BJP’s criminal mindset towards the Kashmiris, aiming to emotionally and financially harm the inmates’ families,” the report emphasizes.
It underscores that thousands of Kashmiri political prisoners are languishing in various jails of IIOJK and India, being victimized solely to suppress their resolve for freedom.
The report urges global rights bodies to pressure India to release Kashmiri political prisoners, calling on the international community to step forward to rescue these detainees from the appalling conditions of their incarceration.
