Farmers protest on Modi’s visit to Gurdaspur, Jalandhe
Jalandhar: A large number of farmers have protested in favour of their demands on the occasion of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address to the election rallies in the cities of Gurdaspur and Jalandhar in the Indian state of Punjab.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Narendra Modi was addressing election rallies in Gurdaspur and Jalandhar ahead of the sixth phase of Lok Sabha parliamentary elections, while before Modi’s visit to Jalandhar, farmers’ organizations protested near Ahluwal village.
The large number of police, deployed in the area, stopped the farmers from moving forward, on which the angry farmers started their protest there and raised slogans against the BJP and Modi government.
Farmers were also protesting by blocking the Nakodar Jalandhar highway.
A large number of police, including Jalandhar SP Manpreet Singh Dhillon, tried to disperse the farmers.
