RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat declares India a Hindu state

New Delhi: In a blatant departure from its remaining secular credentials, the patron of India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat, proclaimed India a Hindu state, emphasizing the need for Hindu unity in multi-ethnic India.

According to Kashmir Media Service, speaking at an event in Rajasthan’s Baran, Bhagwat stressed that Hindus must put aside differences in language, caste and regional disputes to achieve this unity.

Bhagwat’s statement comes at a time when the Hindutva ideology has been a topic of debate in India. The country’s history has seen a rise in Hindu nationalist ideology, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) promoting the ideology.

The event was attended by 3,827 RSS volunteers and senior functionaries, including Ramesh Agarwal, Jagdish Singh Rana, Ramesh Chand Mehta, and Vaidya Radheshyam Garg.
