Indian intelligence ‘agent’ arrested in Karachi; weapons seized

Karachi: The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) in Karachi claims to have arrested a man suspected of being an agent for the Indian intelligence agency, RAW, during an operation in the Maripur area.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the arrested individual, identified as Muhammad Saleem, was apprehended in an intelligence-based operation from Macchli Chowrangi on Manora Road, and a large cache of weapons, explosive materials and documents were recovered from his possession.

The SIU officials have revealed that the operation led to the seizure of hand grenades, a launcher, 9mm pistols, and several fake service cards from various departments. The suspect was also found to be carrying multiple passports and identification cards under different names, while evidence and documents were found regarding the suspect going to India several times through Nepal.

The SIU stated that Muhammad Saleem had been operating in Karachi on behalf of the Indian intelligence agency RAW, allegedly gathering sensitive information and conducting subversive activities. The investigation revealed that the suspect had forged connections across various sectors, as evidenced by the discovery of fake service cards.

Police said a case had been registered against the suspect at the SIU under terrorism charges, and further investigations are underway to determine the full extent of his involvement and any potential links to other espionage networks.

The police are also investigating how the suspect managed to acquire such a substantial amount of weaponry and explosives.
