Blast damages hoardings, windows of nearby shops in New Delhi
New Delhi: A blast damaged hoardings and windows of shops outside an Indian paramilitary forces school in Delhi city.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the sound of a loud explosion was heard in Prashant Vihar in Delhi’s Rohini on Sunday.
Following the loud noise, plumes of smoke could be seen billowing from a spot near the CRPF Public School in Rohini, with a video also surfacing online.
A white powder-like substance was found near the wall of the school after the entire area was cordoned off by the police. However, no injuries have been reported so far.
“The only possibilities which we think of are a cylinder blast or a building collapse. There was a big cloud of smoke here which stayed for a good 10 minutes. The glass of the shops here has broken, and the hoardings have been displaced,” an eyewitness said.
NSG commandos reached the spot where the blast took place. Furthermore, heavy police have been deployed near the school and sniffer dogs are being used to find pieces of evidence. A team from the Forensic Science Laboratory also reached the spot and collected samples to ascertain how the blast was carried out.
The exact cause behind the explosion is yet to be ascertained, no injuries have been reported yet. K
