BJP-led Tripura govt inciting communal tension to distract from failures: CPI (M)
Agartala: The Tripura unit of the CPI (M) has said that the BJP-led government in the state is attempting to divert public anger by inciting communal tension.
According to Kashmir Media Service, at a press conference following the party’s state committee meeting, CPI (M) state secretary and Leader of the Opposition in the Tripura assembly, Jitendra Chaudhury, stated that public frustration is rooted in the BJP government’s failure to address pressing issues.
The meeting reviewed the socio-political and economic challenges that have affected people’s lives over the past month and a half.
Chaudhury pointed to recent communal incidents in Kadamtala and Pekucherra, asserting they are deliberate attempts by the BJP government to distract from more critical concerns. He noted a decline in law and order, citing recent twin murders in Agartala and the alleged police torture resulting in the death of a tribal youth.
He referenced the violent clashes in Kadamtala on October 6, which resulted in one fatality when police fired to disperse mobs from two communities. Tensions escalated in Pekucherra following attacks on a temple and a mosque on October 15.
