Tension in Madhya Pradesh after Hindu-Muslim clash
Bhopal: Tension gripped Baronda village in Madhya Pradesh’s Burhanpur district after clashes erupted between Hindu and Muslim communities over a disputed mazar.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the altercation, which occurred on Monday night, involved stone pelting, leaving four people injured, including a woman.
The conflict stemmed from the mazar being painted saffron, leading to a complaint from the Muslim community. Attempts by local authorities to mediate, overseen by the Naib Tehsildar, escalated into violence. Security personnel were deployed, and a flag march was conducted to restore calm.
Burhanpur ADM Sapna Anurag Jain confirmed that the area around the mazar has been cordoned off and that CCTV footage is being reviewed to identify the culprits. “Representatives from both sides will be called for discussions to resolve the issue peacefully,” she added.
This is the third such incident in recent months, with Hindutva elements fueling tensions for vested interests.
