AAP slams BJP’s political vendetta after court orders release of Amanatullah Khan
New Delhi: A Delhi court has ordered the release of Aam Admi Party (AAP) MLA Amanatullah Khan, who was arrested in connection with a money laundering case involving alleged irregularities in the Delhi Waqf Boad.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Amanatullah Khan has been in judicial custody for two months, following his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate on September 2. The court also declined to take cognizance of a supplementary charge sheet filed against him. The case, which centers on allegations of embezzlement and misuse of funds within the Delhi Waqf Board, was initially filed by the Delhi Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB), which critics argue is aligned with the ruling Modi government.
In response to the court’s decision, senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh said that Khan’s bail exposed the falsehoods behind the charges, labeling the case a political vendetta orchestrated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government. Singh argued that Khan’s outspoken criticism of the BJP made him a target of political retribution.
AAP officials maintained that the legal action against Khan was politically motivated, aimed at tarnishing his reputation and undermining his leadership. In a press conference, party leaders pointed out the timing of the investigation, noting that Khan’s arrest coincided with the run-up to the Delhi municipal elections and other key political events.
“The money laundering case is nothing more than a political drama and a weapon used by the BJP to target us,” Singh declared. “If Prime Minister Modi is so filled with anger, resentment, and hatred, he should have us shot at a crossroads,” he added. He also said that the probe agencies had lost all credibility.
