India targets Kashmiri activists with baseless charges to suppress dissent
Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the State Investigation Agency (SIA) has filed a chargesheet against Kashmiri individuals on fabricated charges of supporting the pro-freedom movement through social media.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Indian police claim the platform is used to expose Indian occupation and atrocities by its forces in the occupied territory.
Among those unjustly targeted is Kashmiri activist Farhaan Muzaffar Mattoo, a resident of Srinagar, accused of gathering and sharing information about Indian atrocities. The SIA alleges this information was used by liberation leaders to issue statements through the “Kashmir Fight” platform.
The police mentioned Sheikh Sajjad Ahmad, a native of Srinagar, as a key figure exposing Indian policies in the disputed territory. His advocacy for Kashmir’s right to self-determination and efforts to highlight human rights abuses have been wrongly labeled as anti-India activities by the Indian occupation authorities.
The chargesheet has drawn widespread condemnation, being seen as a tactic to suppress dissent and silence those advocating for Kashmiris’ right to self-determination. Critics have labeled it as another step in India’s systematic effort to stifle the voices of activists and freedom leaders in the disputed territory.
