Mehbooba Mufti calls for 15-minute blackout tonight to mark Aug 5 protest
Srinagar: Peoples Democratic Party President Mehbooba Mufti has urged the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir to observe a 15-minute blackout at 9 PM tonight as a mark of protest against the Indian government’s illegal revocation of Articles 370 and 35A on August 5, 2019.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Mehbooba Mufti stated that the Indian government took away the rights, voice, and constitutional identity of the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir without their consent. “What was ours by birth and by belonging was stripped away overnight. Not a whisper of warning. Not a shred of justice,” she said in a statement.
In response to her call, PDP workers in Srinagar will join the lights-out protest in silent defiance of New Delhi’s unilateral and unconstitutional move to erase the territory’s special status and legal safeguards.
