Indian soldier dies in Doda, police probe death amid frequent suicides in forces
Jammu: An Indian Army man died under suspicious circumstances in Doda district of Indian Illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Indian army officials claimed that the soldier died after his service rifle ‘accidentally’ discharged at the battalion headquarters in the Sarna Bhaderwah area of the district.
The deceased has been identified as Suresh Biswal, son of Kishore Biswal, a resident of Dhenkanal, Odisha, India, the officials added.
Meanwhile, police have taken cognizance of the incident and launched an investigation to determine whether the soldier was murdered or had committed suicide—a phenomenon common among Indian forces’ personnel.
