India is attempting to defame Kashmiris’ demand of plebiscite struggle to hide its state terrorism by resorting to malicious propaganda as the BJP Modi govt resorting to any wicked tactic to malign the Kashmiris’ indigenous resistance movement.
The Indian BJP, government and its media, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi is spreading malicious propaganda to undermine the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination and defame Kashmiris righteous struggle for demand of plebiscite and Pakistan stand on Kashmir.
Propaganda and Smearing Tactics:
Labeling youth demanding political justice and innocent individuals as terrorists to justify its actions and deflect from internal repression in the disputed territory.
The Indian forces’ personnel use black laws as shields conducting fake encounters and military operations in populated areas and near the LoC (Line of Control), portraying them falsely as infiltration attempts from Pakistan.
Human Rights Violations:
Fake encounters, enforced disappearances, and widespread detentions under draconian laws like the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), Public Safety Act (PSA) and UAPA.
Increasing militarization in Kashmir, deploying heavy military and paramilitary forces and committing human rights abuses.
India silences political Hurriyet leadership, suppresses journalists, writers, and human rights defenders (e.g., Khurram Parvez).
Attempting to distort reality by presenting a narrative of peace and normalcy in Kashmir while suppressing dissent and manipulating public perception.
Media is used to spread disinformation about the Kashmiri resistance and Pakistan.
Violating UN Security Council resolutions, imposing unjust laws, and rejecting calls for an UN-mandated plebiscite in Kashmir.\
Several human rights organizations (e.g., Amnesty International, UNHRC) have raised concerns over rights abuses in the region.
Hindutva Ideology:
Using Hindutva ideology in occupied Kashmir under its installed non Kashmiri BJP leader, LG Manoj Sihna (based on V.D. Savarkar’s ideas) to marginalize minorities in India and Kashmiris in IIOJK and push for a “Hindu Rashtra”.
India’s Kashmir policy is like Israel’s actions in Palestine.
Militarization and Occupation:
India converting Kashmir into a military zone, undermining the local population’s freedoms.
Deployment of forces like Rashtriya Rifles, Central Reserve Police Force, Border Security Force (BSF), Special Operation Group (SOG), National Investigation Agency and State Investigation Agency is a sign of repression.
Revocation of Article 370 and 35A is an illegal act and violation of international law as Kashmir is internationally UN recognized disputed territory.
UN Resolutions and Plebiscite:
UNSC resolutions on Kashmir call for a plebiscite, which India is obstructing and misinterpreting Kashmir dispute ,violating international resolutions.
Holding of a plebiscite under UN auspices to determine the will of the people of Jammu and Kashmir is promised by India in United Nation resolution .
January 5th, 1949 guaranteed the right of the Kashmiri people to determine their future by stating “The question of the accession of the State of
Jammu and Kashmir to India or Pakistan will be decided through the democratic method of a free and impartial plebiscite;” Thus, January 5, 1949 marks a high point in the struggle of the Kashmiri people for their inalienable right to self-determination.
India never seriously intended to hold the plebiscite, and that its increasing administrative integration of Kashmir violates the spirit of the resolutions.
The people of Kashmir have not been given the promised opportunity to choose their political future.
Call for Peace and Diplomacy:
The need is dialogue, not war, and urge of resolution of the Kashmir dispute for long-term peace between India and Pakistan.
The peaceful resolution through dialogue is the only sustainable path, and that Kashmir’s disputed status must be addressed for regional peace.
