Mirwaiz underscores message of love, compassion, and self-reform on Urs

Srinagar: Senior All Parties Hurriyat Conference leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has urged Muslims to adopt the teachings of Hazrat Sheikh Syed Abdul Qadir Jeelani (RA) and embody the true spirit of Islam based on love, compassion, and service to humanity.

According to Kashmir Media Service, addressing a large gathering of devotees at the shrine of Dastgeer Sahib in Khanyar, Srinagar on the eve of the annual Urs of the revered saint, Hazrat Mahboob-e-Subhani (RA), the Mirwaiz paid glowing tributes to the great Sufi luminary. He said Hazrat Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jeelani’s (RA) life was a beacon of guidance, centered on self-reform and purification of the heart and soul — the path that leads believers towards moral excellence and closeness to Almighty Allah.

Mirwaiz said that at a time when hatred, bias, and intolerance have engulfed societies across the world, it is imperative for Muslims to return to Islam’s universal message of peace and empathy. He emphasized that a true Muslim’s heart cannot harbour hatred or malice, for Islam teaches respect and goodwill for all of Allah’s creation.

He urged the people to adopt these timeless values in their personal and collective lives to build a society grounded in understanding, faith, and moral renewal.

A large number of devotees, including women, attended the sermon and listened with deep devotion to the Mirwaiz’s message of unity and self-purification.
