IIOJK: Two Indian army commandos go missing during CASO in Islamabad forests

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, two para commandos of the Indian army have gone missing during a cordon and search operation launched by the occupation forces in Islamabad district.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the Indian troops had started the operation in the dense Gadool forests in the Kokernag area of the district yesterday. The missing commandos were part of the team conducting the operation.

Indian officials said that the operation was hit by heavy rainfall and poor visibility, and contact with the two commandos was lost shortly thereafter.

The Indian army said the soldiers might have lost communication due to adverse weather and difficult topography. They added that communication with the soldiers has remained cut off since then.

The search for the missing commandos in Gadool entered its second day today. The Indian army has pressed helicopters and drones into service to assist ground forces in locating the missing soldiers.

“The focus right now is to locate soldiers safely,” an Indian police official said. “The area remains under tight cordon, and all possible scenarios are being considered.”
