IIOJK Congress resolves to resume chain hunger strike for Statehood restoration

Srinagar: The Indian National Congress chapter in occupied Jammu and Kashmir has resolved to resume the chain hunger strike under the banner “Hamari Riyasat Hamra Haq” to reiterate the party’s demand for restoration of complete statehood to the occupied territory.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the hunger strike had to be put on hold due to the natural calamity and subsequent loss to life and property in Chenab valley and elsewhere in Jammu as well as Kashmir region. The strike will start from October 18 for the remaining districts who could not observe the strike given the loss of life and property due to natural calamity.

The President of Indian National Congress chapter in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Tariq Hameed Karra has urged upon the party leaders and district presidents to gear up for the hunger strike “under banner Hamari Riyasat Hamar Haq’ to strongly urge upon the Modi regime to fulfill its promise with regard to restoration of Statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.

“Statehood is the party indigenous movement, we will not rest until the Indian government fulfills its promise and restores the dignity and honour of Jammu and Kashmir,” Karra maintained.
