BJP attaches property of activist in Ramban under draconian UAPA

Jammu: In yet another act of economic repression, Indian police under Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) regime have attached property worth of crores in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the BJP regime police forces’ personnel attached 4.11 kanals of agricultural land of an activist, Farooq Ahmad, in Dumki-Sumber area of the Ramban district.
The police claimed that the action was taken under the black law, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
Observers say such attachments are part of the Indian BJP government’s sustained campaign to intimidate the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir by depriving them of their homes, lands and livelihoods.
The BJP regime has increasingly weaponized property seizures, branding locals as freedom activists, drug peddlers or anti-India activists under black laws to justify the confiscation of their assets.
Rights groups have repeatedly pointed out that these arbitrary measures are aimed at weakening Kashmiris economically and altering the territory’s demography by paving the way for non-local occupation of seized properties.
