Indian CRPF head constable killed, two critically injured in Jharkhand IED blast

Ranchi: An Indian Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) head constable was killed and two other personnel were injured in an IED blast in Jharkhand state of India.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Indian Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) 60 Battalion head constable, Mahendra Laskar, was killed and two CRPF officers, identified as Battalion Inspector Kaushal Kumar Mishra and Sub-Inspector Ramchandra Gogi, were injured in the IED blast triggered by Maoists in the Saranda Jungles under Manoharpur Block of Chaibasa of the state.

Head Constable Mahendra Laskar was a resident of Nagaon in Assam.

Notably, the CPI-Maoists, who are demanding an independent state, have declared the observance of a “Resistance Week” from October 8 to 14 to mobilize support and register opposition to the ongoing campaign by the Indian forces in the five states. They have also announced a ‘Band’ on October 15 against the suppression by the Indian forces and New Delhi BJP government in Jharkhand, Bihar, West Bengal, Assam, and Chhattisgarh states.

Meanwhile, a soldier of the 6th Assam Police Battalion, identified as Rupul Barman from Dolut village in Barkhola, Cachar, committed suicide at the Mahadevpur border outpost near the India–Bangladesh border under Katigora subdivision in Assam state.

According to reports, Barman shot himself with his service rifle inside the barracks. He was rushed to Kailash hospital by fellow personnel but was declared dead by doctors.
