Indian troops conduct massive search operation in Srinagar

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Indian police and paramilitary personnel carried out extensive cordon and search operations and surprise frisking drives in and around Srinagar’s Lal Chowk area today, further heightening the atmosphere of fear and surveillance in the already militarized city.

According to Kashmir Media Service, heavily armed Indian troops sealed key locations including Koker Bazar, Court Road, and Regal Chowk — areas that remain among the busiest commercial zones in Srinagar. Pedestrians and commuters were subjected to intense frisking, vehicle searches, and identification checks under the pretext of maintaining “public safety.”

Eyewitnesses said that the sudden military-style operation disrupted normal life, causing panic among traders and shoppers. The occupation authorities deployed additional forces across the city under the guise of “preventive measures”.

Local residents told the media that such operations are part of India’s systematic campaign to intimidate civilians and suppress dissent in the name of security.

The repeated frisking, arbitrary questioning, and prolonged detentions in public places have become a common feature of life in occupied Srinagar, particularly in Lal Chowk — a historic centre of Kashmiri political and economic activity now turned into a heavily guarded zone.
