Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Indian forces arrested a youth during a cordon and search operation at Wuyan Khrew in Awantipora area of Pulwama district.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the detained youth has been identified as Javed Ahmed Hijam of Gulab Bagh, Tral.

The operation was jointly conducted by Indian Police, the Indian Army’s 50 Rashtriya Rifles, and Central Reserve Police Force 185 Battalion. Officials claimed Hijam provided logistical support to mujahideen, a stereotypical charge widely viewed as a pretext to target innocent Kashmiri youth. A case has been registered under draconian Indian laws. The arrest comes amid intensified cordon and search operations across occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The All Parties Hurriyat Conference condemned repeated arrests of innocent Kashmiris, stressing that India’s actions violate basic human rights and deepen alienation among the local population. APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, in a statement issued in Srinagar, said such measures are part of a broader strategy to intimidate Kashmiris and suppress their legitimate struggle for self-determination.

The spokesman described the ongoing military presence, frisking, and searches as “pervasive and oppressive,” warning that the continued targeting of youth under dubious charges only fuels resentment and undermines any claims of “normalcy” by the Indian administration.

The APHC highlighted that Kashmiris continue to endure an inhuman reality under the presence of over one million Indian troops, with the territory trapped under illegal occupation for 78 years. The spokesman condemned Modi’s regime for setting unprecedented records of human rights violations, turning Kashmir into an open-air prison, and subjecting ordinary residents to cordons, raids, custodial torture, arbitrary arrests, black laws, and confiscation of private property. He urged the world to urgently intervene to rescue the besieged people of IIOJK and called on the UN to finally fulfill its responsibility to resolve the long-pending Kashmir dispute. KMS-7K
