Crackdown launched on homestays, hotels across Srinagar

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Indian authorities have launched a sweeping crackdown against homestays, hotels, and guest houses across Srinagar and surrounding areas under the pretext of verification and inspection.
According to a police statement, several establishments were targeted, including hotels Essar, ABC Residency, Gani, and Aksa, and homestays Al Habib, Golden Moon, and Divine Holiday.
The authorities imposed heavy fines on the owners for alleged violations. Additionally, preventive action under Sections 126/170 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) is reportedly planned against the proprietors.
Critics say such enforcement drives are part of the broader pattern of harassment by Indian authorities, targeting businesses and livelihoods under the guise of regulatory checks.
