Tension grips Manipur as mob torches NSCN-IM office

New Delhi: An office of a Naga insurgent group was set ablaze by an angry mob in Manipur state of India following the killing of four cadres in a factional clash.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the incident occurred in Ukhrul district, where an agitated mob torched the regional office of the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN-IM), alleging its involvement in the killing of four cadres in neighbouring Kamjong district.
Officials said tensions escalated in Ukhrul and Kamjong districts after news of the killings spread. The mob demanded action against those responsible before setting the office on fire. However, no casualties were reported in the incident.
The NSCN-IM, in a statement, denied issuing any directive for the attack and said an internal inquiry has been initiated to ascertain the facts.
Police have launched investigations, while authorities are making efforts to control the situation amid rising tensions in the region.
