One dead, several injured in five road accidents across IIOJK

Srinagar: Heavy rainfall and erratic weather conditions triggered a series of road accidents across Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) on Friday, leaving one person dead and several others injured.

According to Kashmir Media Service, at least five accidents were reported from different districts in IIOJK, with slippery roads and reduced visibility cited as major contributing factors.

In Samba district, a dumper fell into a roadside drain near Jamoda, killing the driver. In Budgam district, two persons were injured after a car overturned in the Koowosa area of Magam after losing control on a wet stretch of road.

In Ganderbal district’s Gund Kangan area, three persons were injured when a goods vehicle overturned, while in Srinagar’s Parimpora, a man sustained critical injuries after falling from a moving vehicle. In Baramulla district, five schoolchildren were injured after a bus met with an accident near Shutloo.

The spate of accidents has raised concerns about road safety especially during adverse weather in IIOJK, where sudden skidding and loss of control are common during rainfall.
