CASOs, crackdowns and house raids have become a norm in IIOJK: Report

Srinagar: Intensified cordon and search operations and house raids have become a norm in the heavily militarized territory of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, carried out to advance the “normalcy” narrative being peddled by the India’s Modi regime.

According to a report released by Kashmir Media Service, Indian forces including army, paramilitary and police personnel are not even sparing children and women, subjecting them to severe harassment during the so-called cordon and search operations and house raids.

During these operations, youth are also being arrested, while residential houses and private properties are attached and destroyed on the pretext of targeting drug peddlers and citing so-called law and order problems in the disputed territory.

The report, citing political experts and analysts, deplored that in continued operations and house raids, youth are being targeted and arrested in the name of protests, demands for ‘azadi’, and drug peddler cases, while properties including land, residential houses, and shops are regularly attached and destroyed by Indian forces under the New Delhi-installed Lieutenant Governor (LG) in IIOJK.

Ground reports said that the Indian BJP government, its LG regime, and forces including the army and police establishment have broken all records of committing atrocities and brutalities on the oppressed people in the occupied territory after the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A.

The Indian BJP government is also slowly pushing its Hindutva communal RSS agenda in occupied Kashmir. Over 1,050 Kashmiris have been killed, 2,690 injured, and 1,169 properties including houses, shops and other structures destroyed since August 5, 2019, in IIOJK when the BJP-led Indian regime repealed Kashmir’s special status and imposed a military siege, besides arresting thousands of Kashmiris including Hurriyat leaders, activists and youth.

The report added that the Indian BJP government and its LG regime’s militaristic tactics in IIOJK are a challenge to the global community, and the world must wake up to rescue the beleaguered Kashmiris from Indian brutal occupation. The international community is duty-bound to support Kashmiris in breaking the shackles of Indian slavery, they stressed.
