Moosvi condemns ongoing youths’ arrests across IIOJK

Srinagar : In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, All Parties Hurriyat Conference senior leader and President of Anjuman Sharie Shian Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi has strongly condemned the ongoing arrests of youth across the territory.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi addressing the Friday congregation at the central Imambargah in Budgam expressed serious concern over what he described as the repeated targeting and harassment of youth by law enforcement agencies in the aftermath of recent developments relating to Imam Syed Ali Khamenei. He said that such actions have contributed to growing mistrust and have further deepened social anxieties.

He said that Anjuman-e-Sharie Shian would strongly raise these issues during the forthcoming Muharram-related meetings with the administration. He emphasized that the organization would seek an immediate halt to the ongoing arrest drive and press for the withdrawal of cases, including FIRs and Public Safety Act (PSA) detentions, that have been invoked against several individuals.

The Anjuman President also reiterated the long-pending demand for the restoration of the traditional Muharram 8 Muttahida Jaloos-e-Ashura and called upon the authorities to revoke the restrictions and allow the procession to proceed along its historic route from Abi Guzar to Alamgari Bazar in Srinagar.

Highlighting the religious, cultural, and historical significance of the procession, Agha Syed Hassan said its restoration remains a deeply cherished aspiration of the Kashmiri Shia community and an important symbol of their religious identity and heritage.

He expressed hope that the administration would adopt a constructive and inclusive approach in addressing the concerns of the community ahead of the holy month of Muharram and ensure an atmosphere conducive to the peaceful observance of religious practices.

Agha Syed Hassan further said dialogue and mutual understanding are essential for maintaining communal harmony and public confidence, particularly during significant religious occasions.

He urged the authorities to address the concerns of the community in a fair and transparent manner and facilitate the observance of Muharram in accordance with longstanding traditions and constitutional guarantees.
