BSF man dies by suicide along Assam border
New Delhi : A Border Security Force (BSF) man died by suicide while on duty along the international border in Assam’s Sribhumi district.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the deceased was identified as Prem Kumar, a 44-year-old Head Constable of the BSF’s 171 Battalion and a resident of Punjab. Officials said he was deployed at a border outpost when the incident occurred.
Preliminary reports suggest that the constable used his service rifle to shoot himself while on duty.
A magistrate, along with BSF and police officials, visited the site and initiated legal formalities. The body was shifted for post-mortem examination.
Authorities have launched an inquiry to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.
