GOC Misra visits LOC areas as Indian Army’s Rajouri operation enters 27th day

Jammu : Indian forces personnel continued the massive cordon and search operation (CASO) for the 27th consecutive day today in Rajouri district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Indian Army’s General Officer Commanding of the Jammu-based White Knight Corps, Lt Gen P.K. Mishra, visited forward areas along the Line of Control in the Nowshera area of Rajouri district and interacted with troops.

Local residents, mostly Muslims, were tortured and interrogated by Indian forces personnel during the last 26 days of operations. The forces have further intensified the operation by tightening the cordon around the forest zone and expanding extensive search operations across the area, turning it into a virtual war zone.

Repeated door-to-door searches and heavy troop movement have completely disrupted normal life, leaving local residents in a state of constant fear, uncertainty and hardship. The prolonged military operation once again exposes the limitations of India’s much-publicized anti-resistance campaign and its increasing reliance on brute force to suppress the legitimate aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

Despite deploying thousands of troops, helicopters, drones, sniffer dogs, para commandos and the so-called Village Defence Guards since May 23, the Indian Army and paramilitary forces have failed to achieve any significant breakthrough even after over three weeks of relentless military action in the Dori Maal forest area of Gambhir Mughalan in the district.

To hide embarrassment, Indian forces of the 118 Territorial Army claimed to have recovered Pakistani currency and a slip containing Pakistani mobile numbers near the Bhattaduriyan highway in the Mendhar area of Poonch district during a cordon and search operation.
