Indian govt decides to hand over security of five more jails to paramilitary in IIOJK

Srinagar: The Indian government has decided to hand over security measures of five more jails in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir to the paramilitary “Central Industrial Security Force” (CISF).

According to Kashmir Media Service, the CISF is currently responsible for the security of Central Jail, Srinagar, and Kot Bhalwal Jail, Jammu.

A spokesperson for the force has said that the five more jails under consideration for taking over security include Mahanpur Jail in Kathua as well as district jails in Jammu, Islamabad, Kupwara and Baramulla.

The security responsibility of Central Jail, Srinagar, and Kot Bhalwal Jail was handed over to “CISF” in October 2023.

The BJP-led Hindutva Indian government has detained over 4,000 Kashmiris, including Hurriyat leaders, activists, ordinary Kashmiri youth, rights activists, journalists, scholars, students, lawyers and civil society activists, in various jails in occupied Jammu and Kashmir and India for challenging the illegal Indian occupation.

These Kashmiri detainees have been deprived of all basic facilities, including medical care, due to which most of them have fallen victim to various diseases.
